Upgrading SCM Firmware
You Will Need
A Verilink SCM controller module
A file containing a new revision of SCM firmware
An Ethernet connection to the Ethernet transceiver supplied
with the SCM module
A Telnet application or a terminal connection to the SCM

OCAL
(Craft) port
An FTP
Server
application
NOTE:
Most common FTP programs are CLIENTS, not SERVERS. Be
sure you have an FTP server program. Such programs,
distributed as shareware, may be found on World Wide Web
download sites.

How to use FTP
How to use the specific FTP server program you have selected
The IP address of the FTP server
The specific path and filename to the new SCM firmware file
Command Usage
B) download firmware
Submenu used to send file from SCM RAM to non-SCM cards in
node (for updating cards other than SCM). See section below on
“Broadcasting Firmware”

F) firmware from local SCM
Not supported at present.
O) switch over permanent
Reloads firmware from selected bank and also sets that bank as
default power up boot partition. Test new code first before using
this option.
Q) query firmware
Checks CRC values of code in flashbanks and reports OK or BAD
as well as code revisions.
R) reset card
Restarts card without re-loading code from either flashbank.
W) write file to flash
Writes new file in SCM RAM to bank B of this SCM (for updating
SCM only).
Y) switch over once
Reloads firmware from selected flashbank but does not change
which bank is loaded at power-up.
L) TABS download
Present on remote Administration Menu, but not supported at
present.
P) Partition copy B=>A
Copy firmware from partition B to partition A (10-minute process).
